GLOSSARY


accumulator : 
A rechargeable battery usually used to power a  vehicle.
 appliance :
A device or machine that is used for a particular purpose.
 A rice cooker is an example of an electrical appliance.
 
 
 battery :
A device that stores and supplies electricity.
  
 
 bulb:
A device made of glass that lights up when it is turned on.
 
 
 circuit diagram:
A diagram that represents an electric circuit. Components such as bulbs, connecting wires, switches and batteries are drawn as symbols in a circuit diagram.
 
 
 
dim:
Having little light, not bright.
 
 
electric circuit:
A closed path which an electric current can pass through from one end of an electric source to the other end.

 

 
 
 
electric shock:
A sudden and painful effect caused by an electric current passing through the body.
 
  
electrocution:
Injury or death caused by an electric shock.

 

parallel circuit:
An electric circuit in which there are more than one closed path for an electric current to flow.




series circuit:
An electric circuit in which there is only one closed path for electric current to flow.




switch:
A device that is used to complete or break an electric circuit.


symbol:
A sign or a drawing that has a special meaning.


terminal of a battery:
The connecting points of a battery.



wire:
